The Northwest Tall Tale Challenge is a family-friendly contest that will involve YouTube submissions, online voting, and a live event for the top contestants.

To enter the event, submit a 3 – 5 minute video of you telling your story. Stories are not limited to tall-tales, though they need to be family-friendly and cannot contain any profanity. Video submissions will open on April 1, 2015 and the deadline for submissions is June 30, 2015.

Once the videos are submitted and we’ve reached the deadline, the online voting process begins. The videos will be available on the Northwest Tall Tale Challenge YouTube channel in addition to the website and the public will vote on which videos are their favorite. Voting begins on June 1, 2015 and will end on June 30, 2015.

The top eight story tellers will be announced on the Northwest Tall Tale Challenge website on July 15, 2015, and two alternates will be notified in the event that a finalist will be unavailable to attend the live event.

The top 10 storytellers will tell their 10-minute stories at the live event on August 29, 2015 at the Inn at the Commons in Medford, Oregon in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. The judges will vote for the top 3 finalists, and the live audience will vote for the people’s choice award.

The stories told in the video submissions do not have to be the same story that will be told at the live event – the public will be voting on the storyteller rather than the story itself.

The grand prize is an all expenses paid trip to the National Storytelling Festival in  Jonesborough, Tennessee – a $2,500 value.
